Day 57 - April 11, 2007 Wednesday

When Lynn arrived this morning, Terry was again feeling very bad. He was in pain, nauseous, and tired. He did not want to go to PT. Lynn had to force him to go. He was not happy with her for doing that. He had three therapists working on him at once - one on the left arm, one on the right leg, and one on the left leg. They would stretch and bend his arm and legs until he was uncomfortable. Terry would wince in pain but he was taking it well - joking, etc. They continued to work him hard knowing that it was helping him. He felt better after all of the PT was over (good thing Lynn made him go). The stretching and moving is good for him. He doesn't have much of an appetite (or drink much). They keep trying different things, but nothing seems to be working. Terry's isolation has been lifted now - don't have to worry about passing something to someone with low immune system. He also might get a roommate. He ended up getting a roommate later on that day. His name is Brandon. Terry and Lynn spent rest of the evening chatting about the next few days. They had no idea what to expect but they were trying to be open to the next adventure.

Thank You Arlyne! I've talked to Lynn but your writing puts it all in a better perspective. I worry about Terry and Lynn both. It's such a terrible thing. I appreciate your honesty. I know Lynn is putting all her faith in God and that is a wonderful thing, but I also know them both and understand how frustrated Terry must become, this helplessness has to be the hardest thing in the world for him. Just not something his large and in charge personality will take easily, I know. I feel that Terry has the strength and the will and the faith to come through all of this with flying colors. My greatest fear is the toll it may take on their personal relationship. If he could just understand how incredibly far he has come already, maybe he could better see the end result and look forward to it. I'm sure as time goes by and his improvement starts growing by leaps and bounds, instead of crawling, that he will be so much happier. I haven't talked to Lynn for a few days, was Terry moved or did he get to stay at the rehab hospital?
You're all doing a wonderful job there, Lynn absolutely gushed in her praise for how much support they've recieved from you all. Keep up the good work!
