Day 50 - April 4, 2007 Wednesday

Today is conference day (there has been a few rumblings that Terry might have to leave soon). Lynn is coming in late today - Jimmy (son) was there early. Terry had a fair amount of pain earlier in the morning. His catheter wasn't working well. The staff changed his catheter to a new one. That made a big difference. Terry still is not eating well (this has been an on-going problem since his feeding tube was removed). He has a fullness in his lower abdomen and also feels nauseated. Hopefully his normal functions will become normal soon. This should help him to feel better. PT went fantastic today. Terry sat unassisted for nineteen minutes. His balance is improving greatly. After PT it was time for the conference. The doctor told them that insurance was calling for this Friday to be Terry's last day at RHI. Lynn and Terry became upset about the uncertainty that came with this news. Terry thought he would be going home and didn't feel he, Lynn, or the house was ready. The doctor explained more, because of Terry's limitations he has reached a plateau in his rehab. He is limited because his bones are still healing. Until they are completely healed, Terry can't bear any weight on them. He said that they would be able to extend the date to early next week. This would give Lynn time to find an extended care or nursing facility for Terry. After the meeting Terry and Lynn went back to his room and prayed. They were very overwhelmed. Then they started calling people to help them find a place for him. They were given a list of facilities by the staff at RHI with some questions to ask. That night when Lynn went home, she started looking around on the Internet for answers.
