Day 37 - March 22, 2007 Thursday

Terry was in his wheelchair by 7:30 am. He wanted to tour his bathroom. After looking it over Lynn positioned him in front of the sink. She then used an electric razor and trimmer to trim his beard up on the neck and shave his face. Then he put on his aftershave and brushed his teeth. She dampened his hair and combed it. He looked better than he had in five weeks. They had breakfast in the unit and then went to PT. Generally the morning starts fairly easy with arm exercises. They "range" his left hand for half hour (that part usually gets his blood moving and he sweats). Then he is allowed a half hour for resting. At 10:30 they usually start working on transfers and leg exercises. This is the hard and scary part for Terry. They are trying to determine the easiest way for him to be transferred, as well as encouraging him to use his right arm and strengthen his stomach muscles. He spent eleven hours in his wheelchair today. Lynn left early tonight so she could start getting stuff ready for the carnival on Saturday. She and Esteina (D-I-L) were going to make the cotton candy. Warren (grandson) has been a very big help. He feeds the beavers everyday. He also helped Lynn get ready for the carnival and he is clearing out the bathrooms so the are ready when it is time for the remodeling to start.
